Being fostered in middle TN

We received a call from a shelter that someone had surrendered a beautiful black and tan dapple girl. Since Julia is a little shy and confused about what has happened to her, they did not want to stress her by putting her "on display" for potential adopters to see.

Julia is absolutely beautiful and has been as pleasant as any dog I've ever worked with. She had a bath and her ears cleaned and went right along without complaint. Then, she curled up in foster mom's lap to nap and spent the afternoon there. She is a little uncertain about being picked up but once she sees you are okay, she's okay with it. She has given doxie kisses to foster mom as if to say, "thanks."

We haven't had her long enough to know about cats, children, other dogs, etc, but she sure seems easy to get along with.
I know she will need a home where she gets to cuddle and I'm guessing she will prefer to sleep in the big bed.

Julia needs her teeth cleaned and we'll get that done but she's so special, we wanted to get her listed because we believe she is just what someone has been looking for!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
