BIO: Rudy is a very sweet male wirehair 3 year old dachshund. He was surrendered by his owner due to a change in living circumstances. He is very overweight but is on a diet and I am walking him daily, long walks. He has a lot of pep in his step and is a happy dog. He is submissive  and sweet. He likes to sleep in the big bed with his people but doesn’t mind the kennel too much either. Rudy has a “summer haircut” right now that we are letting grow out so we can show off his pretty brindle coat. Rudy would love a family or person to belong with permanently.

Update: Rudy is losing weight and shaping up nicely.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  
 
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
