About Jordi

  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 0A11126433
  • General Color: Red
  • Declawed: No

Meet Jordi---he is such a handsome young man! Jordi was turned in to rescue because his busy young family and their children had too many activities and Jordi did not get enough time and attention. Jordi has been very well cared for his entire life and never mistreated at all. He is 4 ½ years old and is a short hair, red mini dachshund with the softest, shiniest coat you could imagine. He weighs approximately 11 lbs. and is up-to-date on all shots, vaccines and is on heartworm prevention and is neutered. He has an acute under bite, which makes Jordi even cuter—if that is possible!

Jordi is a little timid at first, but warms up after a short while. He has been an only-dog his entire life, so he’s not sure how to play with others just yet. Jordi does like to play fetch with his foster mom and dad and really enjoys playing with socks! Jordi doesn’t bother shoes or furniture, but sure enjoys socks and blankets, which is just fine with his foster mom! He is doing nicely with his foster family of doxies—both male and female, and he is accustomed to cats. Since Jordi was raised with a family, he does well with older children that know how to handle such a small fellow. Of course, he will need a little time to be properly introduced and learn all the players in his new family. These new faces and voices, both human and canine, are all new to Jordi! He will do well in a fairly quiet home with another companion, as long as they won’t be mean to him, or he’d love to be an only-child again where he would get  100% of the attention! Jordi is a sensitive and submissive boy and needs only kind friends in a forever  family.  Jordi needs a refresher course in housetraining manners and his mom is working with positive reinforcement. He just needs consistency and someone to spend time with him and keep him on a schedule—he doesn’t mean to be rude. He is very treat driven, so getting him on track with housetraining shouldn’t be very hard. Jordi stays in a crate when at home alone and will sleep in one at night, but he thinks the big bed sure is nice. He is such a polite snuggler and doesn’t wiggle too much or hog the covers, he just wants to be near you.

Jordi is just waiting for a new forever home with will love him and give him lots of love and attention. He will give you a lifetime of warm laps, tail wagging, and kisses, plus he lets you know when someone comes to the door. You can ask his foster mom any questions about Jordi at smburmei@comcast.net . He is being fostered in northern Alabama.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about Jordi

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
