Grace
Grace (formerly Cupid#3)was a 5 year old Double Dapple Dachshund. She was born blind and deaf and found wandering alone by the side of a road in Michigan. That's when All American Dachshund Rescue saved her. I adopted her April 3, 2016. She had 3 sisters to show her learn the ropes in her new home. With the help of ramps, she was able to go outside through a doggie door and get up on my bed, whenever she wanted. In early July, she became lethargic and her gums were turning white. She was diagnosed with IMHA, Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. Her body was attacking itself. Over a two month period, she received four blood transfusions in an effort to save her life. But in the end her little body could not take it. She passed away in my arms on September 13, 2016. I was only lucky enough to have her for 6 months. While she was sick, i was praying for a miracle. But I realized she WAS the miracle. #myamazingGrace
Sadie
Sadie #3 came to live with me in Florida after I had to put my 15+ yo dachsie (also from AADR) to sleep. The first month after I got her, she could not get enough hugs or petting and soaked up all the affection she could get. What a sweetie. I only had her for such a very short time but it was enough to form a very close bond. She developed a condition where she could not breathe through her nose and because of that, produced copious amounts of saliva and thus could not drink or eat. I truly miss her sweet hugs. She was a wonderfully sweet little girl and I miss her awfully.

Nugget - A Celebration of Life - 16 July 2003 - 26
Nugget was our beloved companion. Nugget turned 13 the 16th of July 2016. He had been with us since he was 11 ½ months old, coming from a All American Dachshund rescue in Tennessee. He was being raised, at a top breeding kennel, to be a show dog but they got rid of him because his tail was to short. (If you felt his tail it felt like it had been broken in two places.) Their loss was our gain.
Nugget was such a loving, laid back dog and got along great with cats, dogs, and people. He was our most traveled dog covering all the states except Hawaii with us as well as every Provence in Canada except Labrador. He loved to travel enjoying all the new smells and adventures travel brought. He was quick to tell you when it was dinner time. At 4 pm he would begin with a gentle woof, working up louder & louder as it was chow time. If you ignored him he would climb in your lap and begin licking you in the face.
Nugget was so soft everyone who petted him commented on it. And, oh the joy, when, on a cold night, he crawled under the covers and lay next to you. It was like a warm, soft heated blanket. He was smart but could be stubborn as well. He had a great sense of smell and quickly found any hidden treats and was always in the kitchen when I started to cook. If I brought bags into the house and set them on the floor he had his head in the bag before I could turn around looking for treats. He loved soft places to lay. If there were cloths on the bed he would be laying on top of the cloths on the bed. Drop a washrag on the floor he would lay on the washrag. His favorite place in the coach was on the back of the couch by the window so he could survey the world in comfort.
We were devastated when we found out that Nugget had an enlarged liver and spleen, elevated liver numbers and very low white blood count so that he could start to bleed out any time. Plus he wasn't eating much and none of his favorite foods. The vet thought it could be a very aggressive cancer. So with a heavy heart we took Nugget home for one last afternoon where we visited many of his favorite places, took tons of pictures, offered favorite foods (which he refused to eat), explained to him and Mr Tibbs what was going to happen, and just plain LOVED on him for this last time.
Mr. Tibbs went with us and was right next to Nugget for the whole procedure. Mr. Tibbs misses Nugget. The day after, while walking Mr. Tibbs, he pulled us over to the vet (3 blocks away) and checked the place out. When we got home he wouldn't go into the house until he had checked out the car for Nugget. We all miss our little golden guy so much and enjoy sharing stories and memories about him. See you at the Rainbow Bridge old pal. Meanwhile have fun with Schotzie, Liba, Duke, Heidi, and your old pal Teddy.
Love Mom, Dad and Mr. Tibbs
