BIO: Hi I’m Jill and I came from TX where I was turned in with another dachshund but I’m not sure why, I try to be a good girl and I am most of the time. I love to play and play with other dogs and I get along with everyone but not sure about those things they call “cats” - they got these sharp things on the ends of their paws that hurt, “OUCH”, so I want to stay away from them and they told me in my next home I don’t have to live with one so please “no cats”. I do however love a fenced-in yard where I can run and play with my brothers and sisters so I have to have another friend that will keep up with me.

I really like this game of digging the blanket out of the beds that my foster mom puts in them and then she has to put them back in and I take them out what a fun game that is!!

I love to walk on a leash and meet NEW people, they make a big fuss over me cause I’m just so pretty and my eyes are unusual cause I have one brown and one ice blue eye. I like to make friends wherever I go so if you are a social butterfly, then I can be too. Please don’t stick me in your house and not take me places or have people come over!

I do have one flaw, I was born with a shorter than average tail for a dachshund. I heard my foster mom telling someone on the phone cause she thinks I was inbred, I don’t know what that means do you? Is it bad? I don’t feel bad! It doesn’t bother me, I can still wag it like crazy at you if you say something to me and tell me I’m pretty!

Oh and lastly they told me I had to tell you all this... I will have accidents if you don’t take me out on a schedule until I get used to your house and you get used to me. So there, ALL my secrets are out! Will you love me PLEASE??!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
