BIO: Baby number 5 came from an abusive situation and because of that he has some mental scars. He does prefer women over men. He needs to go to a home with another small dog so he can continue to learn to trust humans. He will bark at strangers but he’s getting better with each passing week and we are looking for someone that will continue his education in trust. He doesn’t walk well on a leash so a fenced in yard would best.
He has been in his temp foster home for 3 weeks now and we felt it best to move him on to his foster mom before we find him his forever home. So Cherie the new foster mom will be giving another update in a couple weeks but if you have an question please feel free to ask her. Baby is a great little(6-7lbs) and deserves the best of homes.
August 24, 2015 Update
Since he has been with his new Foster Family- he has overcome many obstacles he encountered in his previous situation. He loves to go outside and chase the birds, does his business outside with access to a doggie door, loves eating meals with all his little four-legged buddies and he LOVES sleeping in the BIG Bed!! He has become my little shadow, where I go he goes and he loves resting on laps. He needs a family with a fenced in yard and a big brother/sister to help him learn how to be a pet again.
He does show some mild anxiety with “barking” when people come to the door. So he needs to be monitored and re-assured everything is ok and no one is going to hurt him. Once company is in the house he will bark at times when they get up and move around. He has no food aggression or separation anxiety.
AADR feels a Dachshund Savvy home would best help Baby overcome his previous situation. He needs lots of love, a gentle touch and a little four-legged companion to point him in the right direction. If you feel you can help Baby feel safe and loved he will follow you everywhere and be your best friend forever.
