BIO:

My name is Jody: AADR took me after being rescued by Syliva and taken to Valley Animal Hospital in Rainbow City, AL. They say I was pretty torn up after being attacked (they think) by coyotes??  My little buddy and I were roaming the area for a while and some neighbors had seen the two of us together.  Sylvia found me and took me to the closest Animal Hospital to get treatment.  No one ever found my little buddy – they think he was trying to protect me from the coyotes and sacrificed himself instead of me.   I had a punctured trachea and a pretty large neck wound that required surgical repair.  I am on the mend now and am looking for my Forever Home.  I need a home with a family that will keep me safe and love me and never let me out of their sight.

I am 2 years old, friendly and like to be around people and other small dogs.  I am affectionate and love to cuddle on your lap or the back of the coach.   I am pretty healthy, food motivated and will make a good family pet.  I have no food/fear aggression's or submissive urination.   I sleep well in a crate, don’t bark much and love to snuggle in blankets.  I am still working on being house broken – I do like going in/out of the doggie door- but here in Michigan – the weather has gotten pretty cold outside. I’m sure glad I have other doxie foster sisters and brother to play and snuggle with.

I have been with my new “Foster Mom” for just a short time.  I have been completely Vetted and heartworm negative- I got a “clean bill of health” from the Vet.  I am learning a lot from my new foster Mommy: I can go in/out of the doggie door, learning how to play with the other doxies in the house (5 others besides me) and cuddle on my Foster Mom’s lap as much as I want.  I like taking naps on the rug or the open crate and being held and cuddled. I am looking for my forever home; a family who will give me lots of love, take me for walks, cuddle and play with me and always keep me safe.  I would like my FOREVER HOME before the holidays.   Only serious applicants need apply.

More about Jody.....MI

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
