BIO:

Joey is an AWESOME pup!  He is a happy little guy who loves his humans.  Although Joey has little gray, don’t let it fool you.  He is active, playful, and truly enjoys life.  He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and has shown no destructive behaviors.  Joey loves to ride in the car and go everywhere with his foster mom.  He is an inquisitive little guy that is always ready for an adventure at the local park or investigating all the glorious smells at the pet supply store where he loves to shop.  Joey is quite the little shopping cart commando.   Regardless of where he is, Joey is happiest when he is with his human.  Settling into the recliner for a nap and a movie or good book is perfect.  Sleeping really close in the big bed is pure heaven.  He crates easily but does not enjoy being in his crate.  However, he does stay in his crate while his foster mom is away from home.   Although Joey enjoys meeting new people or pups, he is protective of his people and will sound the alarm when a stranger approaches his door or car.   Joey enjoys his foster brothers and sisters but would probably be happiest as an only pup where he is the center of attention.  A fenced yard would be fantastic.

If you are looking for a loving companion, little Joey is perfect for you.

Note:  Joey wants you to know that he will only consider applications from persons who want to be his best friend forever and share life’s adventures with him.  That’s just the way he rolls.

More about Joey....ME

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
