BIO: This boy is PURE love!!!! JoJo is a happy little fellow who's owner could no longer care for him. The only clue that JoJo is an older dog is that he is missing many of his teeth. He recently had a hernia repaired and is doing well. He has no trouble at all eating dry dog food and could probably stand to lose a pound or so. JoJo is a pretty easy going guy. He knows his name and comes with his tail wagging when he is called. If JoJo had his way he would spend most of his time on somebody's lap!
JoJo is friendly with new people and other dogs. He has not been around cats close up, but when we see them on our walks he barely notices them. He has not been around children, but would be fine with children who are old enough to understand that they must be gentle with him. JoJo enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash. When he arrived, he needed some refresher training on his housebreaking, but is doing much better. He would do very well with a fenced yard. He will use a pee pad if he can't get outside. JoJo sleeps in a crate at night and is ready to go out first thing in the morning. He would be very happy to sleep with his people too. If you are looking for a sweet little snuggle buddy, JoJo is your man!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
