About CALI...AL
Status: Adopted!
Species: Dog
Declawed: No
Housetrained: Yes
Hi my name is Cali and I was found as a stray running in traffic on a very busy highway. I was nearly hit several times! Two nice ladies who happened to be vet techs stopped and picked me up. They took me to their work where I was checked out and given a clean bill of health. I was filthy and slightly skinny but happy that someone picked me up and I have been licking them and everyone else in thanks ever since. Because no one has reported me missing (who couldn't miss me?) rescue was contacted and now I am in my foster home where I have settled right in. I am very friendly and appear to be housebroken and I know how to use a doggie door. I love to destuff bobos and play with other dogs and I would LOVE to sleep with you in the big bed. So far I have not met a stranger. My one weakness is that I like to take my food out of my bowl and inspect it to make sure it is good enough to eat. Putting a mat under my bowl will make it easier to clean up after me. I am 9.5 pounds and could gain a 1/4 pound. I am already spayed and now up to date on my shots, on frontline, and heartworm prevention. The vet thinks I am about 6 years old. Maybe a bit younger, or I look very young for my age! I will receive a dental before I go to my new home but my foster mom wanted to give me a few days to adjust first. Little did she know that I am totally happy of the time and came in the house curious but very playful. Can I come home with you? I promise to love you and lick you all day and night. Cali is being fostered in New Orleans, LA foster contact: tracibourgeois@yahoo.com Adoption fee: $250.00+10.00(CHIP FEE)

Good with Dogs
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
