Lottie was given her name because the day AADR took her in she won the lottery! This little girl was badly neglected by her former owner, she had flea infestations to the point that her skin had sores and she lost much of her fur. She also had a large benign mammary tumor. If life weren’t bad enough for her, one day she was dropped off in a wooded area and left to fend for herself or die. We know this because someone bragged about doing the deed and a good Samaritan heard about it and found her. She was taken to animal control where an AADR angel whisked her away to the good life!
Lottie’s ailments were treated and her fur is almost back. She is working hard on housetraining but needs someone to continue her progress. She does not walk on a leash but does love to play outside. She needs a securely fenced yard to enjoy. Little Lottie who had nothing has learned to love toys, good food, a warm bed and human touch. She is adorable, loving and looking for her forever home. Lottie has much to offer the right family, she’s ready to go home!
More about Lottie.....AL
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
