Hello there! Thanks for stopping by to read about me. I am 18 months old but I really act like a puppy. I love to play and play and play. I like for someone to throw my toys so I can fetch them. I also love playing with my foster brothers and sister. I also like to jump! If you have a toy in your pocket, I just know that I can jump up and snag it. I am not much of a barker but I do bark a little when the other dogs get to barking. I also like to climb in laps and snuggle right in. I give lots of kisses. I also give hugs by laying my head on your chest. I like to sleep in the “big bed” but would also do well on a couch. I really do need a fenced in yard because I am a very fast runner. I would also like another doggie to play with. I go outside to do my business, I have just not learned to “ask” to go out, since I have a doggie door and do not need to ask my “foster family”. I am also leash trained and love to go for walks but a jogging buddy would be even better. All I need is my own family to love me, play with me and let me cuddle in a lap or two. I’m very active, a little cautious but friendly. I am a bit wary of small children but older children are fine. If you take me home with you, I will bring you a lot of love and laughter and be your best friend forever!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
