Julio found himself at a shelter in middle AL where he was dumped. We are not quite sure why. He does appear to have a skin issue but we are not sure but we think it was caused by a flea allergy. We are having our vet check him out. The shelter shaved him down so he’s going to need some sweaters if he goes to the north to find a forever family. When his fur grows back it’s going to be a soft wheaten color.
He loves to be with foster mom or love anyone’s lap if you are sitting and chillin for the day. If you are up and busy then he’ll be happy to lay on the couch or doggie bed till you are ready to chill with him. Julio is a very calm and laid back boy, easy keeper. Not a barker, gets along with everyone but we are not sure about cats.
Please contact foster mom for more up to date info and pictures of this sweet boy. He just came into rescue so as we know more we’ll post it here.
More about Julio..NJ
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
