Update 12-17-13:
Holly quickly adjusted to her new foster home and is loving life and living to love! She adores toys and will carry one when she goes out to potty. She's happy to go for a walk or go for a ride. A champion kisser and lap warmer, Holly will sleep in the big bed or a warm bed with a blankie of her own. Holly has so much love to give, she just needs a family to share it with! This sweet girl may not be a beauty queen, but she has a heart of gold to give the family who adopts her!
----
Sweet sweet Holly came from a shelter in rural AR. We don’t know why and can’t figure out why anyone would want to give up this sweet girl. When she first came she was timid and paced probably not sure why she was being shifted and where she was at but by the next day she was settled in and has taken on the new schedule like a breeze. She will go outside when we open the dog to let them out to potty, seems more comfortable with that than using the doggie door. She gets along with all the other dogs and loves her lap time. She is like a big sponge she just wants to soak it all up.
If you are looking for a girl more on the bigger side, not a barker than we think Holly#5 will fit that bill. Oh and did we mention she is quite bow-legged in the front legs? No worries and no problems she’s just not the prettiest dachshund in the front but her face and personality make up for any other short comings.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
