Update to bio

Jesse was taken to a groomer and no one ever came back for him. Can you imagine? It's sad because he’s a great dog and I mean great! He’s good with kids, cats, and other dogs! He likes his crate and is housebroken! What more could you ask for?

He is a lover of the outdoors and likes to spend time outside in the fenced yard exploring or relaxing in the shade. He likes to play with other dogs and he loves toys! He would do great with someone that likes to go for walks each day and he would have no problem encountering strangers or other dogs. Jesse really loves getting attention from humans! He will go wherever you go and he loves to get belly rubs and to be brushed, too!

Please consider giving Jesse a home of his own and a forever one this time!

Jesse was taken to a groomer and was never come back for. How sad because he’s a great dog, I mean great. He’s good with kids, cats, other dogs and his housebroken…can you really ask for more?

He’s a calm boy that likes to lay around more than be active and that’s probably why he picked up this weight but we are working to get it off and the more he loses the more active he gets. He’d do great with someone that likes to go for walks each day, he’d have no problem encountering strangers or other dogs.

He’s be fine with another dog to keep him company while you are gone or by himself. Please consider giving Jesse a home of his own and a forever one this time!

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Jesse #2...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
