Rusty is a 5 year old longhair black and tan standard. He should be a tweenie, but he hasn't backed up from the food bowl lately. We are going to help him get slim and trim. He is in rescue because his family had to move and could not take him with them. He is POTTY TRAINED (never thought that word would be in a doxie bio). He is good with kids and cats and other dogs, large or small. He sleeps in the big bed all night long and is leash trained. Rusty has a super personality and will make someone a wonderful addtion to their family. He is up to date on his shots and heartworm negative. More about Rusty4....NYGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
