Hi. My name is Joe and I am as sweet as sweet can be! I am really quite handsome. I am housetrained and know some basic commands like sit and stay. I absolutely go crazy over my ball. I'll do anything you ask to get you to play with me! I sit real pretty for a treat and have great balance. I take treats very gently so as to not hurt you. Cats fasinate me and I must admit I really enjoy chasing them so I should probably go to a home with no cats. I don't hurt them, but I get so excited when they run I can't help myself! I'm also a great watchdog. I'll bark at everyone who comes into my home to make sure you are safe and protected. I do very well on a leash and absolutely love to go outside. I do better with a chain leash because I am so happy when I go out sometimes the leash ends up in my mouth and I chew it in half! My foster Mom has gone through a few leashes with me! I love to sleep in "people" beds as I need to be close to someone. I lay right down and go to sleep. You won't even know I'm there! Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
