BIO: Mohawk came to us from a kill-shelter when they tested him and found him to be heartworm positive. He’s been with us the last three months going thru treatment and will be ready to go to his new home by the 15th of Feb after he has his dental.
Mohawk is just a happy happy boy that goes with the flow and gets along with everyone. He’s fine in a crate when you’re gone and when you feed. We don’t crate at night but he does fine sleeping in a doggie bed where he can burrow under the covers and sleep the night away.
Mohawk is housetrained to a doggie door and probably would need some help with learning to let you know when he has to potty ourside. He is VERY treat motivated so teach him this would not be hard.
Mohawk gets his name because the fur on the top of his head stands straight up and he also has a bald spot right in from of the Mohawk. He knows his name so to try to change it.
If you are looking for a fun loving dachshund that gets along with everyone and is happy and a mini then you’ve found your guy!

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
