BIO:

Josie was turned in by an owner who had too many dogs and wanted to find the best possible home for her. We are delighted to offer Josie for adoption---she’s a great girl with a friendly personality and will make somebody a loving forever furkid. Josie is a lover and enjoys her people and is a “five-star quality” snuggler. She also is great with her foster brothers and sisters and will do best with in a home with a buddy. Josie sleeps at night in a crate with her foster brother and settles down nicely after a brief protest. Of course, she would LOVE to sleep in the big bed! Josie is considered housetrained, but will need a little patience and consistency until she learns the schedule and routine of her new home. She’s had one accident, but her mom thinks she just needs a little time to adjust to the new routine in her home. Josie is a very pretty girl with a sleek, shiny coat and beautiful markings!

Josie is a friendly, outgoing girl and greets strangers with her tail wagging. She is has not been kid test or cat tested in her foster home, but she shows no food aggression or possessiveness and has a laid-back personality. We expect that Josie to be fine with kids who know how to respect a small dog. Josie is fearless when it comes to climbing on backs of sofas, chairs, so she’ll need some gentle correction and to be crated or confined when left alone to make sure she is safe from injury.

More about Josie..NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
