RUSTY3 was an owner surrender due to not enough time to help Rusty with his very issues that he has. Rusty has a mild case of separation anixiety but we have found that since in foster care with all the other dogs he is fine. He has also had a few seizures thur the years but never enough to put him on medication for them. We think it might have been to the stress of living in a home that didn't understand a dachshund. They used to keep him in the garage when they left for the day and they said he was distructive. We crate him here when we leave and with the other dogs he is fine. He uses the dogie door fine but they said he was housetrained with out one. We do know that he wants to have you in his sight all the time so we think it would be best that he goes to someone that is home all the time of at least one to two other dogs to keep him company. Rusty 3 orginally came from a shelter in TX and they flew him up here to TN. He will have a dental before going to his new home. Since we don't know how many homes Rusty has been in please make this his last home!!
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
