BIO: Lexie and Junior are an adorable pair that are very bonded to each other. Junior takes on the role of Lexie’s protector. He is very attentive to her needs and always stays close by her side. Junior has a very timid and shy personality but he is also very inquisitive. If you try to get close to him, he will dart away but if you ignore him he will try to climb in your lap and snuggle. He is a very funny and sweet boy. Lexie is extremely shy and will need time to warm up to a new home. She just needs to learn to trust people. She often hides behind Junior and allows him to make the first move. She is slightly overweight but is currently on weight management servings to help her lose a couple of pounds. Once she loses the extra weight she should weigh closer to 12 lbs.

These two are very quiet; they are not barkers and love to snuggle next to each other. If you are interested in adopting these two beautiful dachshunds, please know that with time and lots of love they will become wonderful, social dogs that will add happiness to your home.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
