BIO:
AUBIE came from the Montgomery Humane Shelter where he and his brother were turned in. Both unfortunately were heartworm positive. Aubie came through his heartworm treatment with flying colors and now heartworm free.
Aubie has some fear issues with people he doesn't know. He is fine with us the foster parents but would need to have his adopters take their time with him and let him come to them. Once he knows he can trust you he is great and loves to sleep in the big bed and he is housetrained. If you live in the states of KY, TN, GA AL or KY and are willing to meet his foster mom when you are approved to adopt then please fill out an application. He's fine with both him foster mom and dad he just needs to feel safe with you first and "treats" help! We are offering him at a reduced adoption fee because he has been with us over a year and we need to find him a home so we can take in more that are waiting in the wings and need our help. Aubie doesn't need our help now he just needs a HOME!!
More about Aubie...TN
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
