Kids and small kids are fine!!.....CATS ARE FINE.
BABY has settled in now and loves loves loves to play with the other fosters and is just a little clown. She is using the doggie door on a regular basis and goes all night long sleeping in the big bed. She loves nothing more to do than play with the other dogs or with you, she doesn't care. Her skin condition is completely cleared up and she ready to go to her new forever home. please fill out an online adoption application if you are looking for a playful dog for you or another dog that you have.
BABY came from a neglect case - too many dogs and couldn't care for them all. She did have a skin condition but it is clearing up. It was probably caused by poor food and lack of care. She is very, very sweet and would be good with other dogs, male and female, and small kids but "no cats". We are still assessing if she is housebroken but she is eager to please. We will update more as we have her longer and learn more about her.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
