Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

FOSTER HOME (NAME, EMAIL) Becca, beccarego@gmail.com
BIO: Lacey and I are brother and sister, and it would be best for us to find a new home TOGETHER. We were living with a kind and loving family for about the last four years, up until recently when we were surrendered to AADR. I, Jigs, am definitely a lap dog. I love to climb in my foster mom and dad’s laps while they are sitting at the computer or while they are lying on the couch. I like to look up at them adoringly. Besides being in their laps, I love to be by their sides. I follow them around from room to room. I am a very loyal companion and am easygoing for the most part. I was housebroken at my old home except for occasional submissive urination. At my foster home, I have had some instances of submissive urination as well, which means that I sometimes pee when I’m scared. It’s important to know that I don’t do this on purpose. This used to happen around my former male owner, and these accidents have continued to primarily occur around my foster dad and when I first met my foster dad’s father. So, men seem to be the intimidating factor. My foster dad has learned that he must sometimes ignore me and pet me under the chin or chest, rather than on the top of my head. This and other tactics will need to be followed at my forever home as well in order to manage or stop this behavior. Although I would prefer to be by my foster parents, I have a foster fur brother and sister, whom I get along pretty well with. However, when it comes to food, I let them know that the food is mine and only mine. I give them a snarl and a growl to give them a warning to stay away. I don’t do any more than that, since that does the trick. Yes, I am protective of my food, but only with my foster siblings. I do not do this with my sister nor with my foster parents. I will gladly let them stick their hands in my dish. At my former home, I didn’t do much walking on a leash, but now I go on walks at least once a day and would like to continue this in my new home. Lacey and I do very well on the leash, even better than our foster siblings!! Soon we will have mastered loose leash walking. I have to work though on pottying while on the leash. I am just starting to work on some other commands like sit. I have made a tremendous amount of progress since I arrived at my foster parents’ home, and I know I will continue to make progress as I adjust. My new family will need to have patience with me, but I can guarantee I will be well worth the effort!
Lacey here. Finally it’s my turn! Just like Jigs, I am a lap dog and shadow to my foster parents. We definitely thrive on attention! I’ve had to re-housetrain as well because of my change in homes and routines. It’s been days since I’ve had any accidents in the house since getting put on a schedule. Yeah me! As far as my excitement urination (peeing when excited) is concerned, I have only done this a few times since I’ve been at my foster home, since my foster parents have since learned to not make me so excitable. For example, when they come home, they usually don’t pet me until I’ve been let outside to potty. I seem to get along better with my foster fur siblings than Jigs does. I don’t have any of that food guarding. I don’t mind sharing. Every so often, I join in the fun by tugging on a toy that one or both of my foster siblings has in their mouth. I do like to chew sometimes on my blankets and dog beds. My foster mom has to tell me no when I do this, and I do obey. I am also working on commands and making progress. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that we love to go on car rides and give kisses!
