BIO:
Was adopted out but returned to us overweight. After much hard work, Mary Kate is now back to a healthy weight.
Mary Kate was dropped off at a shelter in the south because she had back issues. Fortunately a caring soul saw her there and contacted rescue. AADR took her in and paid for her back surgery. That was two years ago. Today Mary Kate is a thriving energetic little girl who is struggling to conquer her next feat in life – to find her forever family. Mary Kate is a sweet loving girl who loves to snuggle and be by your side 24/7. Although she has some limitations due to her orthopedic constraints, she does everything all the other foster dogs can do. She should not be allowed to climb on or off furniture or do stairs. She can do short leash walks – but everything in moderation. She bounces around when she gets excited and plays, but you can tell that she has limited mobility in her back. She gets along with all the foster dogs (large and small). She can be a bit possessive of toys and food especially if challenged by another strongly opinionated dog. She does not appear to be too interested in the cats. I think that she would do well with older children who are knowledgeable about her sensitive back and don’t try to pick her up without proper support.
