BIO: Prissy is a wonderful dachshund mix. She is very playful and energetic and loves to run and play. We rescued Prissy from a high kill shelter where she was tested Heartworm Positive. She has since been through treatment and has fully recovered with no problems at all. Prissy has been through a tough time and is slightly skittish until she gets to know you. She has a healthy appetite and sleeps soundly at night.

Prissy would do well in a home where she can get plenty of attention to gain her trust. She loves to be active and would make a great jogging buddy. Prissy has a tendency to jump when she gets really excited so she should be watched when small children are around. She would also do well with another dog as a companion. Prissy deserves to go to her forever home where she can spend the rest of her long healthy life bonding with her forever family. 

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  
 
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
