Juilette was dumped at a rural shelter in South Carolina with 5 other dachshunds. She was clearly a breeder dog that never received human contact.  She was very scared and shy when she arrived at her foster home but has quickly warmed up.  She could be loved on all the time and would love for you just to sit with her and pet her.  She is working on not being scared of being picked up and learning how to ride in a car.  Juilette would need to go to a home with other dogs because she enjoys being around other dogs.  I would not recommend her to go to a home with any children under 13 years of age.  Juilette is sweet and loving and could make someone very happy - please make her a part of your home!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
