BIO:  Will only adopt in the state of Florida

Jenny came from Alabama when her owner passed away and the daughter took her for two years. However, with COVID-19 she was working too many hours to take proper care of Jenny so she reached out to us to take her. Our must-haves for Jenny include:

  • A fenced yard or a lanai so she can enjoy the sun, or someone that likes to walk daily for exercise
  • Doesn’t really need another dog if you are home a lot
  • No apartments or high rises
  • No birds, cats or rodents since she has a high prey drive

Jenny loves the outside and would spend all her time outside if she could. While she may be crate trained she is not destructive in any way and would prefer to sleep in a sunny window if you have to be gone. She’s okay with another dog as long as they try not to be buddies with her. She prefers her own space.

Jenny loves squeaky toys and is quite active for a senior.

Jenny loves people and is very social therefore she’d make a great walking buddy but watch out squirrels... if you have a fenced yard she’ll keep them running for the hills.

If you are looking for a friendly, sweet, energetic senior then look no further, you have found your next family member!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Jenny in FL

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
