BIO UPDATE (10/30/2019): Hans here with an update. I have now been with my Foster Family for almost 2 weeks. They love me! I love going outside and playing with their toys. I have mastered the doggie door and I have not had any accidents inside their house. I love snuggling up on the couch with a blanket. I am very well-behaved and do well with my Foster Siblings. I still do not bark but I will cry if I want something. There are a couple of things I need if you adopt me. I need:
* A fenced yard. * Another young dog to play with.
I really, really want a home I can call my own. So, if you are looking for a sweet, handsome, and well-behaved baby, I may be just what you are looking for! All you have to do to get this ball rolling is compete an application. I hope to meet you soon!
Love, Hans
BIO (10/22/2019): Hans here! I have only been with my Foster Family a few days so they are still working on learning more about me. So far they know I am handsome and sweet. They also have noticed I do not bark like my foster brothers and sister. Maybe I am trying to make a good impression. I am getting along with my Foster family but we are all taking our time to get to know one another. We are all a little possessive of Mom’s attention. More info to come as I get used to this family.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
