This little girl was pulled from a shelter in AL where she was with her puppies but sadly they all died and she was left there all alone. We saw her and knew there was a better life for her somewhere with someone to love and care for her so we pulled her and got her fully vetted. She loves to run and play with the kids. She will lay on the couch with you and watch TV and you can eat in front of her with out her begging for her share. She does appear to be housebroken but expect accidents until she gets used to your schedule. She is UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and now on Interceptor and Frontline. She has had a dental and had a bit of a "cherry eye" but we had that corrected with surgery and should not give her anymore problems. Please give this girl the home that she deserves and has been with out for these long years, she will repay you 10 fold back. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
