BEING FOSTERED IN NORTHERN AL..............

This is Russell (Rusty). Russell is being fostered in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was left in the drop box at the local shelter. Russell is very intelligent. He is so smart that it would be best if he had a very experienced dog owner to keep up with him. He is very loyal and very protective of his foster mom. He is very timid and takes time to decide if he can trust strangers. A fenced in back yard is a must for Russell. His foster mom does have a cat but they are kept separated. He does not need to be in a home with cats or children. He gets along with most other dogs.
Russell needs a home, he's been in foster care too long, he wants a home of his own. He is playful and gets along with other dogs and loves to play with them. Please consider giving Russell a forever home.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
