DACHSHUND........................PURE/MINI COAT.......................................SMOOTH COLOR...................................BLACK & TAN AGE.........................................2-3 YRS WEIGHT.................................7 LBS ADOPTION FEE....................250.00 PLUS 10.00 CHIP FEE CONTACT..............................tcwatkins@comcast.net Mandy came with Candy from a shelter in KY. They were owner turn-ins or just dropped in the drop box not sure which. Mandy is shy at first but after while will warm up. She seems to prefer my husband over me but really likes anyone she can cuddle with. We think she'd be fine with older children, other dogs and probably cats. She appears to be house broken at least to the doggie door. She loves to sleep in the big bed but also does fine in a crate. She is totally vetted which includes all shots, fecal, heartworm test, dental and spayed. Please find it in your heart to give this sweet girl a forever loving home. If you are interested in her please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online adoption app. Home visit is required and out of state adoptions are welcome. We now chip all of our dogs and request that the chip be kept in our name for one year and at the end of that time can be transfered into the adopters name. We are sorry but we do have to pass this fee onto the adopter but should be a relief to you that if your dog is ever lost or stolen they can be recovered when scanned by a vet or shelter.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
