Rescued by Southern States Dachshund Rescue and being Fostered in Athol, MA

Jay-Jay is a wonderfully sweet purebred dachshund. He is about nine years old and is healthy, though has few of his teeth left. What teeth he has have been cleaned and polished by a vet. He is up to date on all of his shots, de-wormed, micro-chipped, neutered and looking for a home to to call his own. One that will last forever.

Jay-Jay was also seen by our vet when he came to us because of tummy upset from his long trip from the south. His back felt good and the vet saw no sign of cataracts.

Jay-Jay is good with older children, men, women and other dogs. I do not know how he would act around cats. However, he craves individual attention and it would be wonderful to see him go to a home as an only dog.

He does NOT mark inside or out.

Information about the adoption process through SSDR can be found on their website www.ssdr.org. They are recognized 501(c)(3) organization. You can find out more about this wonderful boy by calling his foster mom, Susan, at 978-249-5383.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
