BEING FOSTERED IN TN
COOKIE MONSTER was an owher surrender at least the second time around first time that we know of he belonged to an older lady and then was surrendered to a family with a young child. Being a child the child teased the dog and COOKIE MONSTER snapped at the child, he also is not friendly with strangers especially men until he knows they are ok. Other than that he is very sweet loves to sleep in the big bed and gets along with all the other fosters in the house. Uses the doggie door and no accidents. He does until he gets used to you growl a little when you try to pick him up, don't know why, maybe past abuse? He does take a little while to warm up to you but once he does he's great. He is UTD on all shots, on heartworm preventative and on Frontline. This dog is a BEAUTIFUL standard and with a little training and loving he's going to make a wonderful family friend. If you are interested in adopting COOKIE MONSTER plesae go to our website www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and be sure to put his name on the app.
Out of state and Canadians adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
