BIO: Patience is the key to winning over Jezzy’s heart and here’s why...she was abused as a puppy because she wasn’t potty trained. Instead of showing her love and patience, they hit her and now she submissive pees. Not her fault, so you must have patience with her.

You must be home a lot, have a fenced yard, have another young dog for her to play with, and not have children under 10 years. If you don’t meet these needs for Jezzy, please do not email asking us to reconsider. This little girl is too too precious and she wants to please, she’s just never been given the chance.

Do you want to win her over and have a challenge? Well then adopting Jezzy is your chance. But if you don’t want to clean up pee while helping her learn you won’t hit her, then don’t apply. We know this is strong language but we cannot have this little girl ruined any more than she is. Because she’s young, we are hoping she’ll get over it. Please don’t disappoint her or us...adoopt her because you see the beauty within and know that you can turn her life around.

She is super friendly but does submissive pee until she knows you. She gets along with all dogs and yes even a cat, but they have to like to play. We have not worked with her yet on leash training.

Oh, and the picture are not great because she’s not still long enough to get good photos, so please don’t email asking for better pix cause this is the best we could do. You just have to take our word for it that she’s cute as a button!!!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Jezzy in CO

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
