Update 2/27/2017:
Macy has been in her foster home a month now and is light years from where she was a month ago. She has pretty much mastered potty training with accidents rarely happening. She will go outside when you tell her to, but most of the time she uses the doggy door on her own. Her overly possessive behavior with her foster mom has improved greatly as well. She still has her moments and needs to be watched closely and corrected, but we had a house full of company last night and after she got used to all the people, she found a place to lie down and just observed the activity.
The family who is lucky enough to adopt this smart girl will still need to be doxy savvy and not afraid to use a water bottle. But don't be afraid that she can't be trained or be a beloved member of the family!!
Won't you give Macy the chance she deserves?
Original Bio:
Macy came from a hoarder situation with 14 other dogs. They were left in a home to fend for themselves and the only human contact was when someone came to feed them. And that couldn't have been that often considering the way Macy looked when we first got her. Thank goodness, she is safe now and will never have to worry about a situation like that again.
Macy is a sweet, sweet girl who just wants to be loved and played with. She will occasionally play with her foster sister and by the way, they do get along very well. Her foster brother too. She loves to curl up in your lap but she has become content on lying in her bed too. She loves to run and play in the backyard and chase the neighbor dog up and down the fence line. So, we feel Macy needs to go to a home with a fenced in backyard where she can run and play freely.
Macy does have a couple of issues that we are working through. She developed an instant infatuation/attachment to her foster mom and became very protective of her. She also submissive urinates. These are not huge issues but they will require a doxy savvy family to continue working with her. There is no way of knowing whether Macy will develop a strong attachment to her new mom and/or dad but if you are looking for a little girl that will love all family members equally, then Macy is most likely not the girl for you. Don't get me wrong, she loves her foster dad and loves it when he gives her attention but her main focus is on foster mom. Currently, she is not happy when visitors come in because she thinks she is protecting foster mom (but we are working on this and she will learn). Again, there’s no way of knowing if she'll do this again, but it's for this reason we recommend no children under 12 years old. Bottom line, you will need to be able to assert yourself as the pack leader while reassuring Macy that you love her but she does not need to protect you.
We will be giving updates. If you would like more information on this beautiful little girl, contact her foster mom, Lisa, at townsend93@gmail.com.
