BIO: Will be updated soon!
Peanut is a sweet little guy. He was surrendered by his elderly owners who could no longer care for him and his brother. He’s vocal at first and is likely to bark at first sight (or sound), but he gets over it pretty quickly. Mostly he just woofs a few times and quiets down. But he does startle at new sounds.
He seems to warm up to new people fairly quickly, and will demand your attention by pawing at you (often quite insistently!) or woofing at you. He’s very affectionate, and will be happy to dole out some kisses if you let him near your face. He also loves to burrow under the blankets next to you, or just cuddle up to you if a blanket isn’t available to burrow under.
He does well with my 2 year old male dachshund, though he tried to dominate him when first introduced. I’m not sure how much socialization he’s had, so I expect with some training this would not be an issue. He’s not aggressive by any means: he’s dog and cat friendly!
For being only a year old, he’s fairly low energy. He likes to nap during the day, and isn’t rambunctious like you might expect from a 1-year-old. Peanut can’t wait for a family to love that will be patient with him as he learns and adapts. If you are looking for one super cute little buddy, Peanut is your man!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
